Can AI simulate human personality?

A couple of weeks ago, we have posted a poll – can AI simulate human personality?
In this article we will discuss results of this poll, rather than actual AI ability to simulate human personality.

First of all, let us remind ourselves of the poll options – there were 4 options available

• No, never – 11% of votes
• No, but someday it will – 4% of votes
• Yes, partially – 58% of votes
• Yes, 100% – 27% of vote

The poll was published on Sep-12 2025, and was open for next 3 days.
It was published on Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit, X and Instagram.
The numbers we are presenting are aggregate results from all 5 platforms.

Before delving into the numbers, lets consider couple of facts which might have affected the results.

• The poll was published on several AI groups (Reddit, Facebook) – the community of people that are very enthusiastic about AI.
• Memento Vitae’s profile on these social networks is relatively young, so the reach was not that high
• We’re living in the age where excitement about AI is countered by fear (fear of becoming replaceable, fear of losing jobs, fear of ultimate destruction of human race)

Now, lets spend a bit of time analyzing these results.

11% percent of people who participated think that AI will never be able to simulate our own, human personality.
In my view, this number is relatively low – and may be a bit skewed by the fact that the poll was conducted mostly on pro-AI platforms.
On the other hand, 11% people say that either their personality is so unique that no software will ever be able to copy it, or that AI will never progress to that level. I would be really keen to see which one is it.

Only 4% voted for this option. This suggests that the community is polarized – either they are pro-AI, or very much against it.
For me, this number is a bit disappointing – as it shows that we do not look into AI objectively, but we’re either strongly for, or strongly against it.

The majority of votes went for this option – 58%, which indicates that the community that participated is largely pro-AI.
These voters are very much aware of AI capabilities, but are also realistic – AI is not there yet when it comes to simulating human characteristics. However, we can only speculate where these voters believe that AI will get to a level where one cannot distinguish if it communicates to a real person, or to an AI.

This is also in line with Memento Vitae’s results – where personality tests show 85% – 95% similarity with real human. So, we’re pretty close, but not at 100% yet.
